Streetside Records: the end of an era

The space above used to be the floor of Streetside Records, filled with rows and rows of CDs. Now it's all packed up in boxes because Streetside went out of business. That's right. The record store that has been around as long as most Loop residents can remember is leaving. Although no-one I know ever shopped there (anyone in the know shops at Vintage Vinyl down the street), it's kind of sad to see it go. What other venue will host CD-signing parties for Chingy? Where will Nelly audition hoochie mamas to feature in his music videos? Streetside, we will miss you.

Sad!!! Although, let's face it, they were kind of the local Virgin Megastore to Vintage Vinyl's Amoeba. We would really know it was the end of an era if VV also went out of business. But Streetside was just as key for things like that time Nelly hosted auditions for his new video and hoochied-out women lined the block for it.

Yeah. I miss it. I was actually the one that used to sell records in there. That skinny Puerto Rican cat.
