Cleaning the Pope
I took a late-night walk right after some fresh snowfall the other night and noticed this old guy working hard in front of St. Helen's church on Augusta, vigorously brushing the snow off a statue of JP II, everyone's favorite pope (aka "Joannes Paulus II" on the statue). I got a little closer, and realized it wasn't an old guy, it was a nun! Dressed of course in a lumberjack coat and snowpants. I didn't know this, but there's an active convent inside St. Helen's. Judging by this one, those old girls aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. I took a walk around the block and 20 minutes later was amazed to see she was still at it, dusting off the flowers, and making sure JP was spick and span--at least as far her broom could reach.
